🌿 Setting Intentions That Move With You: A Kinder Approach to Growth

Each quarter, I sit with myself. Not with a long to-do list or high-performance goals, but with a quiet moment to check in.

What actually mattered in the last three months?

What felt nourishing? What drained me?

Did I follow what I truly needed… or what I thought I “should” do?

Life doesn’t move in straight lines, and I’ve found that rigid goals are too frustrating to try to follow. I need curves in my life to help me smooth out the ups and downs that come my way. Especially when you’re raising a family, tending to a home, holding a career, or simply navigating the internal shifts of being human in a changing world. My preferred tool to help me stay on track is about hearing my inner guide, keeping my core values visible, and moving toward my long term vision.

Goals are fine—for some. But I need something softer. Something more flexible. Something that allows me to change my mind mid-season, or give myself grace when plans unravel.

That’s where intentions come in.

🌼 Why Intentions Instead of Goals?

Intentions are less about outcome and more about alignment.

They ask:

  • Does this direction feel good to me right now?
  • Am I choosing this from a place of truth?
  • Can I adapt this if life changes tomorrow?

Instead of forcing ourselves into narrow paths, intentions offer open, soul-honoring guidance. They give us space to pivot, soften, and still stay aligned with what really matters.

✨ The Power of Quarterly Check-Ins

Every three months, I revisit:

  • What worked?
  • What didn’t?
  • What did I learn?
  • What needs to be released?
  • What’s quietly calling me forward?

This rhythm keeps me grounded in my values—not just my tasks. It lets me listen to my own inner voice, even as the world gets loud.

And this week, I’ve seen the same need arise in others—clients who are feeling overwhelmed, off-track, or out of sync with themselves.

So I wanted to share this soft and spacious Intentions Worksheet to guide that reset for you.

🌷 Create Your Own Quarterly Intentions Worksheet

Your worksheet should speak to you, invite you to reflect, release, and realign—gently.

  • Celebrate what you’ve completed in the last 90 days:

What am I proud of, big or small?
What brought me joy or surprise?
What did I learn or how did I grow that I didn’t expect?”

  • Honor what you’re still carrying that you now Let Go:

What have I been carrying around that is preventing me from moving forward?
What am I ready to release—habits, thoughts, commitments, pressures?
Reflect on and list what needs more love or less pressure?
What am I committed to working on to transform struggle into strength?

  • Realigning With What Matters:

What values or dreams need more of my attention now?
My 3-5 core values shift my time and attention to which actions that support my core values?
Refocusing on which tasks this quarter to support my longer term vision?

  • Growing Forward

The most exciting things I can think of doing are…
This quarter, I want to focus more on…
These are my heart-centered intentions that move with my life…

Design your own thoughtful questions. Every 90 days for over 7 years I reread EVERYTHING. I keep one long, running document and when I find another thought provoking question, I add it to my doc. The amount of things I do is astonishing. It reminds me to stay focused and take the actions, one after another, that lead me to the next place I want to be.

Because your needs matter. Your inner voice deserves to be louder than your to-do list.

Let’s make space to hear it.

🗓️ Gentle Nudge:

Add a 15–30 minute “Quarterly Intentions Check-In” to your calendar every 3 months.

This simple pause can realign your focus, renew your energy, and help you stay true to what matters most.
