It’s 2019, we decided to gift our family a Breadmaker for Christmas. We LOVE it! Easy, healthy, fast and best of all, warm bread that makes our house smell like a bakery. Gaining confidence in my new skill I decided to purchase the break making flour (by the way, the breadmaker requires Bread Flour, NOT All Purpose Flour). Shopping on Amazon as the usual, I found such a great deal. A HUGE bag of flour. It arrived and my son put all the ingredients in while I was out of town. Out came a brick. Thick, brown, dry, unappetizing and so, so disappointing.
I realized that the flour I purchased was whole wheat, not really a problem, I’m still experimenting, if I mix it with white bread flour it’s better. But the deal I purchased included a 2nd bag of flour, Rye. I have not braved opening the bag yet since I know it will be darker, and a bigger challenge than my first giant bag of bread flour.
The good news is that I can make as many mistakes as I need to because I have enough flour to start my own bread business now.
Here’s to the perfect loaf of bread!
Breadmaking Resources:
Hamilton Beach Breadmaker (After much research we selected this, it is GREAT!)
King Arthur Flour (This is a good quality flour, but be brave and try lots of different flour and recipes.)
Light Whole Wheat Blend (I have a picky teen, so this recipe is nice so that he gets some additional fiber without compromising that light, fluffy bread experience.)
Remember to order or purchase at the store Bread Machine Yeast, otherwise you could end up like me, with a bread brick.
